Unused Space to Wine Room

How to turn an unused space into a wine room.

My husband Mike and I turned a 5 x 5 unused elevator shaft into a wine room. If you have an unused space or closet you can too. I'm very fortunate that Mike knows electric and how to build just about anything.  It can be a little scary taking this first step, but it's well worth it! Take a look at our empty space transformation. . .

Mike first planned where the door would go then opened up the space. He then decided where to put the refrigerator, storage, lights, glass rack, electric, shelving and drawers. He laid the wood flooring and installed a door I found on-line at Home Depot. Mike created the above wine rack out of old wine barrel staves he found on-line. Yes he is really creative!

I ordered the lights at Home Depot and Mike found the tin ceiling tiles on-line. We purchased the small refrigerator at BJ's, and we picked it because it has two temperature settings, one for wine and one for beer, plus it fit perfectly. I love our little wine room and appreciate all the time and effort Mike put into it.

I hope our small space wine room conversion gives you inspiration to convert your unused space.

Cheers - Carrie
