  1. Take two bottles of the same wine and cover them both.
  2. Put one in the fridge and keep it cool (not below 50 degrees) and leave the other one on the counter so it’s room temperature.
  3. Have everyone taste the warm wine first and have them comment on the flavors, nose, aftertaste etc.
  4. Then have everyone try the cold version and comment their same thoughts on it, and find out which wine they like better.

I bet most of your guests won’t know they are the same wine, and they will like the colder one better. White wine is meant to be severed cool but below 50 degrees to bring out its sweetness and balance acidity.  If it’s too cold the alcohol won’t vaporize and will suppress the flavors.

You can play this game with red wine too. Have one bottle at room temperature and the other slightly chilled between 65 & 68 degrees. Slightly chilling the wine will enhances its sweetness, but if you chill it too much it will kill it.

Try playing the game with a semi-sweet Reisling, Chardonnay, or Moscato those wines really change depending on the temperature.

If you like the bags in the above picture you can get them or create your own at Mark&Graham.com.

If you are looking for a good new wine to try with this game, the below Reisling is awesome.

A German Reisling – with crisp, flowery aromas which lead to flavors of peaches and pears. A well-integrated, moderate sweetness provides wonderful balance to its juicy acidity. Serve well-chilled with cheese, fruit and spicy Asian cuisine.
