The question we ALL ask ourselves every day…

What’s for dinner?chicken

This one question always spurs more, like what’s in the refrigerator? What can I eat that’s delicious, easy and healthy?  It’s usually a verbal ping-pong with Mike until I end up cooking something from my memory database of Pinterest. But sometimes (ok more than sometimes) I don’t want to cook, I want to go out. So then the next question is – Where to go?

I have around 100 restaurants in walking distance to my home so picking a restaurant in Virginia Beach is a lot harder than where I use to live in WV.  Dinner out in Harpers Ferry meant going to one of the five local crappy chain restaurants consisting of pancakes, burgers or pizza. If we wanted a good steak (I use the term “good” loosely) that meant going to Martinsburg and dining at the Outback which has been shut down several times in the last couple of years for health code violations.

Virginia Beach has sooo many fabulous restaurants. I feel like a kid in a candy store. I’m on a quest to try as many as I can. To keep track I’m blogging about the restaurants I visit.  I’ve created a restaurants section in my website to make deciding on restaurant easier. I love the website Yelp, it has great reviews that help in my decision making process. The only problem is that I hate all the clicking from restaurant to restaurant and remembering what the previous page said. My restaurant section is different. It outlines restaurants in the same area with all the important info in a concise format; Price $, Yelp star ratings, happy hour & specials, direction & website link, phone number, and my favorites with reviews – ALL ON THE SAME PAGE. No more jumping, clicking, forgetting and wasting time.

I plan on updating my restaurant pages, happy hour pages and things to do pages often. I will let you know the best places, with the best happy hour deals, and daily specials. So check it out before going to dinner in Va Beach.

Here is another question for you…

Do you like Mediterranean Food?

If  you haven’t tried Azar’s Mediterranean Restaurant in the Hilltop Shopping Center on Laskin Road in Va Beach, put it on your list! It’s just 2 miles from the Oceanfront and well worth the drive. Their happy hour is Monday-Friday 3-6pm, with 1/2 price selected beer, wine & appetizers. The restaurant has an elevated casual feel. It’s a great place to go straight from work or shopping to relax. We were there during happy hour and took full advantage of the half priced drinks. I had a glass of Riesling and Mike had the Pinot Noir (our favorites) and we were not disappointed. The waitress recommended the Labane Tzatziki Dip and it was delicious. For the main course I had the Chicken Tawook and Mike had the Baked Kibbi. Lots of fresh ingredients prepared to perfection. I love the fact that the meal was healthy AND tasted delicious. I’m so looking forward to my next visit. If you haven’t tried Azar’s do yourself a favor and go.

Cheers – Carrie
