♥ VB Couple Activities

by contributing writer Dylan Moskowitz

Virginia Beach is not only a place where families can soak up the sun and catch the big waves, but it has also become a popular place for people to be married because of its gorgeous weather and its welcoming environment. Although being married is a thing we should all cherish, I emphasize also exploring the Virginia Beach area when the married couple have the chance. In this article, I will highlight five places that you cannot miss visiting if you are getting married in Virginia Beach.

1. Virginia Beach BoardwalkVirginia Beach Restaurant Map

Stretching from 33rd st to 2nd st , the Virginia Boardwalk contains many attractions (such as a video arcade if you and your spouse love video games) and eateries(if you and your spouse are foodies) that will attract any wedding couple to come and visit. If the respective wedding couple is feeling a big adventurous, the boardwalk contains a ferris wheel. Personally, I think that the ferris wheel is not only the best way to see the city, but it is also a perfect way to spend quality time with your respective spouse. You and your spouse will feel that you are on top of the world! The boardwalk is one of the must see places on the my list because there is always something to see and do on the boardwalk not matter the season.

Note* Kid friendly, Family- oriented, (if traveling with small children for a wedding), Open All-Year Round

2. The Norfolk Spirit Cruise

After spending the day at the Virginia Beach Boardwalk, there is no better way to relax than spending the night cruising the beautiful Norfolk waters than on the Norfolk Spirit Cruise. The cruise starts its route at Town Point Park. It then travels through various significant landmarks, such as Old Fort Norfolk (home of the Army corps of Engineers) and the Portsmouth Naval Hospital (which is the oldest operating hospital in the United States). In addition, the best part about the Norfolk Spirit Cruise is the available food options available on the ship. The food items range from pastries (which can be found on the brunch menu) to my personal favorite orzo and shrimp salad (which can be found on the dinner menu). If you and your respective spouse love mixed drinks, then this cruise is perfect for quenching your alcoholic thirst too. The best part about this particular cruise is that it is able to host weddings for you and your spouse’s family. If you are getting married in Virginia Beach, this is a place I promise you will not regret missing.

Note* Family Oriented, Wedding Events, Brunch, Lunch& Dinner cruise, business casual for men and women, Great for Holiday events,

3. Cape Henry Lighthouse

If you and your respective spouse are looking for something more historical or education before/after the big day, do not hesitate to come visit the Cape Henry Light House. Standing proud over the Chesapeake Bay since 1792, this lighthouse not only signifies the economic strength of the area, but it also represents a pinnacle point in the history of the United States when European explorers first entered the colony of Virginia. Besides the lighthouse’s political and economical representation, you also are able to receive the best views of both the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. In addition, these breathtaking views will not break you and your spouse’s bank account(less than $10 per person).

Note* 583 Atlantic Ave. Fort Story, VA 23459,Great for Budget-oriented Travelers, Open-All Year Round, Extremely hot during summer time

4. Military Aviation Museum

To complement the historical significance of the Cape Henry Lighthouse, the Military Aviation Museum also offers you and your spouse the opportunity to learn about the history of the evolution of airplanes of the United States Military. The museum houses planes from historical aviation periods, such as WWI and WWII. Two particular exhibits that I would like to emphasize are the Army and the Navy hangars. Not only do both of these exhibits showcase their respective aircraft from their military branches, but they are both great for weddings. The large spaces of both the Army and Navy hangars will be able to accommodate you and your spouse’s friends and family. To see if you and your spouse want to get married at the Military Aviation Museum, feel free to stop on by to see if this venue is the right place for you and you spouse’s special day.

Note* 1341 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA, Family-oriented, kid friendly. Great for Weddings/Large Events, Air shows(in summer), Great for budget-oriented travelers

5. Sandbridge BeachA trip to be married in Virginia Beach would not be complete without a visit to Sandbridge Beach. Known as the “Outer Banks of Virginia” this beach is known for its homey feeling. Not only is this beach an ideal place for a wedding, but it is also great for families who have multiple interests. Some of the activities that are offered at the beach are golf and surfing. Not only are the people friendly, but you and your spouse will feel that you both are living in your own quiet oasis. If you are getting married in Virginia Beach and want a resort-like atmosphere, come check out Sandbridge Beach.

Note* Family-oriented, kid friendly. Great for Weddings/Large Events, Golf, Surfing.

Cheers!
