Weed or alcohol, on its own, is great to work up a high. However, pairing them is trending and offers an ethereal experience. Pairing alcohol with weed does carry some risk. The reason is that when you follow a drink with pot, it would increase THC concentration in the blood, thereby stepping up the high! Weed and alcohol can still be enjoyed together when taken responsibly. Here are 5 benefits of a responsible pairing.

1. Intoxication

This is obvious. The extreme, possibly risky level of this would be to pair cannabis with hard liquor. Frightening though it may appear, restrict yourself to one, and you could benefit from potency and intoxication if not flavor. To pair cannabis and liquor, infuse the former into the latter. Marijuana margaritas are a great choice! Perhaps, you can think up a pairing with Blue Label and experiment with a small dose?

2. Will make you really energetic and high

As long as you choose the right combo, you benefit from an exquisite kind of high which some people term the “crossfade.” Choose the wrong combo and you may end up being really mellow. If pairing beer and weed, it is better to smoke pot first and then drink. This would tone down the high, enabling you to level out in a better manner. This is especially recommended for first-timers. Cannabis-infused wine anyone? Once again, be responsible. At no cost, should you let the crossfading take you to a green out which is similar to a blackout.

3. One counteracts the “cottonmouth” of the other

Beer is known to counteract the cottonmouth effect that results from  smoking marijuana. Cottonmouth is an uncomfortable feeling of soreness in the throat and a dry mouth. It happens when the endocannabinoid receptors present in the submandibular glands and laden with THC ask your parasympathetic nervous system to halt the production of saliva. Sour beers are especially good to reduce cottonmouth. Pilsners, when combined with weed, are invigorating palate cleansers. Sparkling wines such as Prosecco or Champagne act as refreshing drinks for smokers’ dry throat and mouth.

4. Put you to sleep

Alcohol being a depressant, sativas or hybrids make a good match with it. The couch-lock feeling associated with a heavy indica could put you to sleep with just the first swig. Miami Marijuana doctors and Florida law allows to treat the illness called Insomnia.

5. Enhancement of taste

There can be a possible enhancement in the taste of one or more elements when alcohol and weed are paired. Blending cannabis with food and wine in a curated meal provides the greatest of all worlds. Sativas blend well with whites while indicas pair well with reds. Imagine feasting on a meal of grilled flatiron steak, roasted vegetables, and kale salad to go with your pot and wine. Would be a gastronomic delight no doubt! Pairing whiskey with marijuana is a great dining experience for an occasional special event, to mellow down after dinner with friends or for an evening indoors. So next time, don’t forget to take some of the Knot Whiskey along.

Now that you know the benefits, here are some prerequisites for responsible pairing.

· There are three key strains of cannabis and knowing their individual properties will help you pair more wisely.
· When you pick up a strain, make sure you find out what its THC percentage is. Before pairing, also take note of the type of alcohol and its strength by volume.
· There is a possibility that smoking marijuana could trigger cystic acne or worsen it if you already have the condition. So be mindful of any changes to your skin. The key is to go slow, in small doses, experiment with different pairings including dark chocolate pairings and see what works (and what doesn’t work) for you.
