8 Wine hacks

Easy ways to remember interesting stuff about wine.

sheepI’m always looking for an easy way to learn something new. That usually involves some sort of crazy image in my mind that I can recall at a  moments notice. The following are short info snip-its that are easy to remember. Read them once and you will know them forever because of the vivid image they produce in your mind.

  1. What wine goes with Lamb? – Merlot
    Here is how to remember:
    Mary had a little lamb that’s fleece was white as snow, one day Mary ate the lamb and drank with it Merlot. (bet you won’t forget this one) 
  2. Is it OK to drink wine before hard liquor? – No
    Here is how to remember:
    Wine before liquor never been sicker.
    Liquor before wine everything’s fine.
  3. Getting a red wine stain of clothing – pour white wine and backing soda on it then clean as usual in the washing machine.
  4. How to chill wine fast (about 5 minutes) – put wine in a bucket of ice water and throw in a big handful of salt.
  5. What wine goes best with cream sauces? – Chardonnay
    Here is how to remember:
    Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet eating her curds and whey (milk products), along came a spider and sat down beside her drinking a glass of Chardonnay.
  6. What wine to serve with fatty meats & lean dishes?
    Red wine with fatty meats and Riesling with leaner meats such as Chicken.
    Here is how to remember:
    Jack Spratt could eat no fat his wife could eat no lean, she drank big red wines and Jack drank only Rieslings.
  7. What wine to serve with a dessert chocolate cake? – Ice Wine
    Here is how to remember:
    Pat a cake, Pat a cake, baker’s man
    Bake me a chocolate cake as fast as you can
    Stir it and cook it then deliver it on time
    Serve it to me with a glass of Ice Wine.
  8. What to serve with eggs? – Sparkling Wine
    Here is how to remember:
    Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall
    Humpty Dumpty had a great fall
    Humpty Dumpty had a glass of Sparkling Wine
    Humpty Dumpty is now feeling fine.
