Tired of or don’t like really sweet wines?
Dislike big red wines with lots of tannins or watery Merlots?
Have you drank so much Pinot Noir you’re in a rut? Looking for a new easy to drink fruity red with a smooth finish? If your answer is yes then I have the wine for you to try next!!!
This past Saturday afternoon Mike and I went wine tasting at the Total Wine store. I love going to these free wine tastings because it gives me the opportunity to try out new wines that I would normally overlook. They usually have tastings Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons. If you have a Total Wine store near you take advantage of these tastings to try out new wines. It’s a nice way to start your Saturday evening, Total Wine tasting then off to dinner.
This past Saturday they were Sampling 7 wines, 3 white and 4 red. All of the wines were good but I did have an unexpected favorite, the “Mad Duck Zinfandel Lodi”. I have a tendency to pick a wine by either the label or name and neither of these things stood out to me with this wine. It was the cheapest of the bunch at $11.99 a bottle and well worth the price. What I liked best about this wine was that it was fruity but not too sweet and it had the perfect amount of acidity. I also enjoyed the subtle nuances in this medium bodied red wine of pepper and spice that lead to a smooth finish.
Want to know what I’d serve with this wine?……Quackers 🙂
Seriously though… this wine could go with just about any meat dish, salad, or pasta with a red sauce.
Cheers – Carrie
